Foundation BNP Paribas Bulgaria, Sofia Municipality and their partners continue the Soup Kitchen project for 13th consecutive year

Since 2002 BNP Paribas Bulgaria has been supporting disadvantaged people in Bulgaria by providing warm meals during the cold winter months with the cooperation of Sofia Municipality. The charitable undertaking called Soup Kitchen has been successfully helping underprivileged citizens for 13 years now. In line with the BNP Paribas Group’s global corporate philanthropy policy, the project continues to support disadvantaged people in Bulgaria and has become an example of responsible private-public cooperation.

The new season of the Soup Kitchen starts on December 1st, 2014 and will continue until March 31st, 2015. Every working day during this period 1,350 disadvantaged people in Sofia will benefit from a warm meal and another 2 soup kitchen centers will serve additional 400 people inthe city of Varna.

The charitable initiative is financed through donations of BNP Paribas Foundation, BNP Paribas S.A. – Sofia Branch and its employees, and with the valuable support of other partners, such as International Women’s Club Sofia, Dimatex, Alcomet, Ecopharm, Deloitte, Astra Zeneca, CTN, Plastchim-T ADand private donors.

The Soup Kitchen initiative has proven to be a remarkable success and an indicator for sustainability over the years. The outstanding commitment of employees, clients and friends of BNP Paribas Bulgaria is evidenced by numerous letters showing the gratitude of the supported citizens. The project is distinguished in 2006 by the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum with a first prize in the category “Investor in Community” on the Annual Responsible Business Awards. In 2009 the project received the BNP Paribas Innov@actionaward for Corporate Social Responsibility.

About Foundation BNP Paribas Bulgaria

In order to formally consolidate and reinforce its longstanding engagement to development of corporate philanthropy programs in the country, BNP Paribas Bulgaria has launched in the end of 2010 a local foundation. The Foundation BNP Paribas Bulgaria was created in close cooperation with the BNP Paribas Foundation – the corner stone of the Group’s philanthropy initiatives for the past 30 years.

The newly established entity structures BNP Paribas’ projects in Bulgaria and strengthens current programs. The aim is to contribute to Bulgaria’s social and cultural development through strong and long-term partnerships in the areas of social inclusion, education, culture and environment.
